Individual therapy
Embarking on therapy is a courageous and vulnerable step toward personal growth and healing. From the outset of treatment, my goal is to create an environment that offers both emotional safety and expert care. Clients often seek my guidance when overwhelmed by the complexities of modern life—whether navigating relationship difficulties, professional challenges, life transitions, or distressing mental health symptoms. Many are also grappling with the lasting impact of childhood trauma, seeking insight into how past experiences continue to shape their present lives.
Grounded in a relational psychoanalytic framework, my work helps clients develop a deeper understanding of themselves and the roots of their emotional struggles. I integrate mindfulness and emotion regulation techniques alongside insights from interpersonal neurobiology and attachment theory. This process brings clarity to the interplay between early relational experiences, current challenges, and the mind–body connection.
My commitment to meaningful therapy extends beyond offering emotional support. I ensure that my interventions are informed by empirical research and current developments in psychological science. With broad clinical experience and advanced training, I am well-equipped to treat a wide range of concerns. I work with adolescents, adults, and older adults, recognizing that each stage of life brings its own complexity. I specialize in treating conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, and PTSD, as well as higher-acuity diagnoses including Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia. In every case, I work collaboratively with clients, helping them move toward healing, growth, and a more satisfying life.
Couples Therapy
Many couples seek therapy at a crisis point in their relationship, unsure of how to move forward. Others recognize recurring patterns they’ve been unable to resolve on their own. Some come to me after working with a previous therapist, feeling discouraged by a lack of meaningful progress.
Couples therapy is a nuanced form of treatment that requires specialized training and a distinct approach from individual work. Effective therapy should draw from well-established theoretical models while offering practical tools that couples can begin applying from the very first session.
My work draws from two of the most research-supported modalities in the field: Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and the Gottman Method. EFT helps partners identify and shift underlying emotional patterns that drive conflict and disconnection, while Gottman-based strategies offer concrete tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and rebuild trust.
Over the years, I’ve developed an integrative style that blends these frameworks with clinical insight and attention to relational dynamics. My goal is to help couples strengthen their connection, navigate conflict more skillfully, and cultivate a more secure and resilient bond.
Couples who come to me are often looking for more than passive reflection. They want active support—someone who can guide them through emotionally charged dynamics with structure, empathy, and clarity. That’s why I take a directive, engaged stance, helping partners interrupt entrenched cycles and move toward repair.
My role is to serve as a compassionate and informed guide, helping couples understand how their individual histories shape their shared dynamic. In a safe and supportive space, I facilitate productive dialogue and emotional exploration, enabling couples to deepen their understanding of one another and build a more fulfilling and connected relationship.
Acute/SMI Conditions
As a clinical and forensic psychologist, I have specific expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of acute symptomology and/or chronic and severe mental health illness (SMI). This includes symptoms of major mood disorders such as mania or bipolar disorder, as well as psychotic spectrum conditions such as schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. My years at an inpatient forensic psychiatric hospital honed my expertise in such chronic and severe diagnoses. In addition to the inpatient setting, I have worked in both residential and intensive outpatient treatment. I regularly serve as an expert evaluator and witness within the legal system due to my expertise in chronic and severe mental illness.
I am very familiar with both the practical and emotional difficulties of coping with these diagnoses. I have partnered with individuals and families to navigate the unique challenges they may encounter, such as identifying the first onset of symptoms, differential diagnosis, hospitalization, finding an appropriate medication provider, or creating a long-term care plan to ensure and empower long-term stability.
I partner with many psychiatrists in my community and have built solid relationships with psychiatric medical professionals, as they are often crucial in helping individuals obtain and maintain their psychiatric stability. My specialized experience provides me with valuable insights and skills to address the complexities and unique needs of individuals grappling with acute symptomology or chronic conditions. This background is integral to the comprehensive and effective support I offer to my clients in their journey towards stability and wellbeing.
